Background:

Masters degree topic - Computational Fluid Dynamics of transonic flows.

PhD topic - Integrated simulation of buildings and HVAC systems.

Member of the FlownexTM process modelling software development team, which has sold licenses in the USA, Europe, Asia and Africa. FlownexTM is part of the official design software suite within Eskom.

Technical lead for the design and test execution of the High Pressure Test Unit (HPTU) and High Temperature Test Unit (HTTU) of the Heat Transfer Test Facility (HTTF) that formed part of Pebble Bed Modular Reactor (PBMR) thermal-fluid phenomena test plan.

Pioneered and successfully commercialised various novel energy efficiency and Demand Side Management (DSM) technologies including heat pump water heating systems, deep mine cooling systems and pump scheduling methodologies.  These technologies are now widely applied in mines operated by South Africa’s major mining houses.

Co‑founder and former CEO of M‑Tech Industrial (Pty) Ltd., a commercial engineering firm that provides consulting and owners engineering services to the energy and water industry.  This includes thermal-fluid systems design and optimization, energy efficiency and demand side management.

The development of process models and simulation methodologies for the integrated analysis, design and optimization of power plants and thermal-fluid energy systems and its components, in order to improve system availability, reliability and efficiency.
